Good Afternoon,
We had a great day today. The students wrote in their Weekly News for the first time today. They are in their backpacks for you to look at over the weekend. After you have read your child's entry, please respond to them. We will read your responses during Morning Meeting on Monday. I also read the story Summer Time in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The point was to look at how the author only focused on one season, instead of talking about the whole year. This allowed the author to go more deeply into detail about her summertime activities. I then shared an oral story about one specific summer event for me and then asked the children to partner up and do the same. This allowed them to tell a story in more detail as well. This activity is part of the developing how authors write.
