the others then talked about how a specific rule was being followed in the specific scene. We also spent some time creating our science notebooks and went into the garden to observe the sunflowers. The kids learned to "write" like scientists. Students shared their approaches with the whole class. Some of them were writing I notice statements, creating a diagram, and writing down observations. It was a great 1st day of science.
