Happy 1st Day of School!  I hope this finds you all well and that this morning's home transitions all went smoothly.  The group has settled right in and is in French class as I start to work on this post. There are always a lot of emotions and feelings as school starts back up.  Kids love the summer routine, enjoy more time with their families and all the fun that comes with summer.  We will be reading a lot of books, this week, that talk about starting back up and how they might feel.

This morning, I read The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson. This book "is poignant, yet heartening book about finding courage to connect, even when you feel scared and alone. There will be times when you walk into a room and no one there is quite like you. There are many reasons to feel different. Maybe it’s how you look or talk, or where you’re from; maybe it’s what you eat, or something just as random. It’s not easy to take those first steps into a place where nobody really knows you yet, but somehow you do it." I also read The School's First Day of School and What should Danny Do?

The arrival routine will have your child pick up school snack/breakfast upon arrival.  I will certainly  remind them in the morning but it would be a great conversation (in the morning) to have in the morning with your child (prior to arrival).  This way he/she will know if they need to pick it up or not.

That is all for now.  I hope you all have a great week.

Peace,

Mr. Young
