June 9, 2020

Good Evening,
I hope you child enjoyed the final meeting today.  It was fun to see so many talents from flipping to dancing, to magic, we have a very talented group of students.  It was a fun way to end a new phase fro all of us.  I have been very pleased with the class, their work, and their attitudes toward online learning.  I thank all of you for your support during this time.

I hope everyone enjoyed the "Inverse Parade" today.  It was great to see so many smiling faces and all of my colleagues too.  Waitsfield is such a special place and in the midst of global chaos, it is nice to have such wonderful colleagues, friends, parents, and students in my life.  Thank you for the reminder again today.

This is the final post of the school year.  Thank you for a fantastic year and for sharing your kids with me.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer. I will see you all in the fall (Hopefully)!  Below are pictures from the 1st day of school this year.  Enjoy.

Peace,
Tommy

Field Day Information & Miscellaneous Stuff

WHAT DO I DO?
All events for Day 1 (June 8) can be found here: Day 1 FIELD DAY . (We'll release the next set of events tomorrow evening).  Check out the events and determine which ones you want to try. For those of you motivated by a little competition, there is a point system and optional score sheet. (you can also keep track of your scores on scrap paper.)  There just may be some prizes awarded to the top 10 students!

To help us see what one another is doing, we encourage you to share your field day experiences with everyone on this padlet
Miss Ally created this how-to video for posting onto the padlet.
( It is important to note that only huusd accounts have access to this padlet, so if you are trying to sign in with another email, it will not work. There is also a padlet app for your smart devices, which are fairly straight forward. If anyone runs into issues posting, please let abataille@huusd.org know. There are also lots of how-to videos on youtube.)

These directions and links are also being shared with students in Grades 1 - 6 in their main google classroom.

DO STUDENTS HAVE TO DO THESE EVENTS?
These are meant to be fun -- we encourage adults to try them too (although prizes are only going to students!)  We wanted to finish the year with a bang and offer lots of opportunities for some fun on these last few days. You do not have to do all of the activities. We do not want this to be a cause of stress. Better yet, we hope you see this as a fun opportunity to end the school year on a high note.

ARE THERE ANY EVENTS OCCURRING AT A PARTICULAR TIME?

Most events can be done whenever you'd like, but we suggest starting early to fit them all in. Several of these involve being outside and you'll want to do them during daylight☀

June 5, 2020

Good Morning,
This post has a lot of information about Monday and Tuesday.  Please read through it carefully and note the schedule.

Monday:
We will have a shortened Morning Meeting on Monday.  A few specialists teachers have put together a "virtual" field day type of event.  We would love to see all of the students access this.  So, Kaiya has asked that no new work be assigned to allow time for kids to access.  I think it is a wonderful idea and want to thank everyone involved in making this happen.  Kids will be able to access items through my Google Classroom Site and the learning hub.

9:00  Morning Meeting
9:30  Virtual Field Days Begin

Tuesday:
The students asked me, during a Morning Meeting, if we could hav

e a celebration on the last day of school.  So, we will use our last Morning Meeting to do this.  They students have asked for a talent show and a freeze dance party.  No student will be required to perform a talent but I hope all will join to watch and support their classmates.  It looks like many do want to perform.

The students have also asked for cupcakes and popcorn.  I will make up party bags for each kid and deliver them during the day Monday.  If someone isn't home, I will leave it, so don't worry about timing.

9:00-10:30 Morning Meeting

2:30  Parade (Kaiya will be emailing more about this).  The gist is that the teachers will be in a line and parents will have a chance to drive by, with their kids, and wave goodbye as we head off into summer.

SUMMER NANNY/BABY SITTING
my daughter, Julianne, is graduating from Harwood in two weeks.  She is looking for a June and July summer nanny position and/or babysitting jobs.  She has her own car and loves to do outdoor things with kids.  She also said she is willing to do some house cleaning while she is there.  If you are interested in hiring her, please call or text (802) 595-1967.

That is all for now.  Please have a wonderful weekend.

Peace,
Mr. Young
