Good Afternoon,
Tomorrow is our field trip.  Please check the weather and dress appropriately.  It sounds like a raincoat would be a good idea.  We will be leaving school at 8:00 and returning around 2:00.  Don't forget you snack, lunch, and water bottle.

Peace,
Tom

Good Afternoon,
I want to thank everyone for coming out last night.  I know most people have extremely busy schedules this time of year and it can be a challenge to add something new.  Today, we spent most of the day finishing up projects.  There were a variety of reading and writing projects tackled during the morning work time.  Your child also wrote their last Weekly News entry.  These do not need to be returned to school.

NOTES:

*2nd Grade Presentation start next week.  Your child has a form in their bag (same as the one sent home earlier) with the date and time.

*Ethan Allen Field Trip on Tuesday.  Please bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, and sunscreen.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Peace,
Tom

Good Morning,

If you didn't see yesterday's note, I have pasted it below.  For all of our classroom volunteers, please note the JUne 18th information.

It is hard to believe that two weeks from today will be the last day of school.  Please take note of the following events:

*Class Presentation Night, Thursday, June 6th @6:00 p.m.  We will be meeting in the gymnasium.

*Pen-Pal Field Trip, Tuesday, June 11th.  We will leave school around 8:00.  Please make sure your child dresses for the weather, brings a snack and a lunch.  I would also encourage them to bring a water bottle and to have applied sunblock before their arrival to school.

*2nd Grade Presentations, Each 2nd grader is scheduled to share their report work and project next week.  If you have misplaced your child’s sheet (with the date and time) please let me know.  Remember the project piece must be done at home.

*Field Days, Monday, June 17th.  Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing and footwear (kids may get wet and will have to run a bit).  Hats and sunblock are recommended.

*The Last Day of School, June 18th.  Today we worked on a gift for each of our weekly classroom volunteers and for the two parents who have typed ALL of our stories this year.  We would like to present this after our awards ceremony on the last day of school.  That usually ends around 8:30.  If you are able to join us, we would love to have you come in and be honored for your efforts.

We will see everyone tomorrow evening.

Peace,
Tom

Good Evening,
I am sorry this is being published so late.  I also didn't post on Friday because the school was experiencing difficulties with getting online.  Today, I started the end of the year reading tests.  I was able to get through half of the class today.  Mrs. Lea also finished up recording the kids voices for the celebration project.  During writing, the students all wrote a letter to my nephew.  I was assessing their ability to write a formal letter, elaborate on ideas, use appropriate handwriting, and use appropriate punctuation.  My nephew (4 years old) is struggling with his father (a marine) being in Afghanistan.  I have been speaking with him on a weekly basis and he liked the idea of getting mail.  I will be mailing these letters to him.  If you would rather not have your child's letter mailed, please let me know by Thursday.

Please remember that the presentation night is scheduled for this Thursday at 6:00.  I look forward to seeing everyone there.  I am still deciding if I am going to use the gym or my classroom.  I will let you know in Wednesdays post.

Have a great evening.

Peace,
Mr. Young
