Good Morning,
I hope you all have had a great week.  We have been busy learning how to write persuasive/opinion pieces and this unit will have us tackle a few important 1st and 2nd grade issues.  I am hoping to create a book of each child's opinion pieces for the end of the year.

Today's schedule was changed up quite a bit to accommodate all of the day's added festivities.  This morning we had a rehearsal for our music concert on Monday evening.  The kids have been hard at work, with Mr. Hill, preparing for this wonderful evening.  I hope you all can come and celebrate both the work of your child and of Mr. Hill.  You are asked to have your child in the gym at 5:50 on Monday evening.  I will meet you all in there.

This afternoon we went to the Warren School to hear the sounds of Scrag Mtn Music. This is an impressive classical musical group, has generously offered to perform (for free!!) for us. They will be sharing the Prokofiev's quintet “Trapeze” for clarinet, double bass, oboe, viola, and violin through an interactive performance specifically designed for kids. More info on this performance, and Scrag Mtn Music, can be found here.   Afterwards, we stopped at stop at the Red Barn at Lareau Farm to view the various work that has been created through the art classes all around our district. A huge shout out to Mrs. McDonough for all of her work in getting the whole arts weekend together. The work that this takes goes way beyond the school day and would not happen without her tremendous effort.

All of these events prevented us from having reading and time to write in our weekly news. Therefore, there is no homework over the weekend.

Peace,
Mr. Young
